To maintain the quality of your drinking water the filters inside your Berkey system should be replaced at regular intervals. With proper care, your stainless steel Berkey housing can last for a lifetime.
However, Berkey has stopped producing Black Berkey replacement elements due to a stop-sale order issued by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency USA).
After an extensive search we have found and now sell the best replacement filter options to use with your Berkey. These replacement filters have been more rigorously tested than the Black Berkey elements.
They also fit inside other gravity filter brands such as British Berkefeld, ProOne, and Alexapure.
And, they require NO priming!

Use one of the two options shown below in the upper chamber of your Berkey or gravity filter system:
Larger filters with faster rate of production $118 (set of two)
Smaller filters, slower rate of production, economical $98 (set of two)
Both of these filter options (shown above) have a ceramic exterior/carbon interior, come with comprehensive test data, are scrubbable, require no priming, are made in the UK, and both brands of filters (used in sets of 2) should be replaced after approximately one year of use.

British Berkefeld is the original brand of gravity filter systems, with a rich history dating back to 1826 when Royal Doulton craftsmen created their first ceramic gravity filters to purify drinking water. This iconic brand is still made in Britain, but now with modern ceramic gravity filter technology and stainless steel gravity filter housings.
British Berkefeld gravity systems come in 1L, 6L, 8.5L and 12L sizes, with Ultra Sterasyl or Ultra Fluoride replacement filters.
British Berkefeld gravity systems and British Berkefeld ceramic replacement filters for gravity systems are certified to NSF standards.
The 6L, 8.5L and 12L stainless steel systems come with a removable label and a plastic spigot. [An optional NSF-certified steel spigot is available.]
